Hurricane Irma preparation – Here’s how PPS is doing it!

It’s always better to prepare for the worst.

‘Hope for the best and prepare for the worst’ is something that businesses in the southeast United States are doing in response to the oncoming possibilities of Hurricane Irma and the devastating effect it will have to hundreds of thousands of people. Power Pet Sitter is no different.

As you may know, our server host, Peak 10, stores our database in an facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. While Hurricane Irma is not projected to make landfall in North Carolina, the extend of it’s gusty reach might and as a service provider, we want you to know what measures are being taken to ensure the best possibility of continued, uninterrupted service amid the storm.

Facility Preparedness:
Peak 10 has completed their standard review processes and work is currently being done to further secure their facilities. This includes clearing the area around their facilities of debris, checking and securing windows and doors, and ensuring that proper supplies are available.

Emergency Power:
Peak 10 has tested their emergency power systems and they are ready in the event that there is a loss of utility power. They have arrangements for emergency refueling if an extended utility outage is experienced. Emergency power will be used as needed to maintain data center operations.

Technical Assistance:
Every Peak 10 data center is staffed by skilled engineers and support personnel to ensure the security, integrity and availability of customers’ technology infrastructure 24/7/365. However, to ensure that they have extra resources available for customers, they have additional personnel from outside of the projected impact areas standing by. These extra resources will be available to assist you as needed.

We all hope that Hurricane Irma turns course but users should follow these tips to ensure that if the worst does happen, your clients and their pets are going to continue to receive your dedicated care.

  • Make sure you have your client information! You can export it from your Users tab and it will include important information, such as garage or door codes. Don’t forget that you also get an Excel report with every Admin nightly schedule, for scheduled clients.
  • Make sure your sitters have printed out their schedules – They can do this either with their nightly schedule, or their ‘My Schedule’ tab.
  • You can e-mail yourself the schedule for the next seven days by using the ‘Email Staff Schedules’ option, in your reports tab. You can also choose to send it to your sitters as well.

Power Pet Sitter will be available through the weekend to provide any data help we can to businesses in Florida, Georgia, and North and South Carolina that might lose power and need information. We hope everyone stays safe.
